Boarding at Black Horse Farm

Barns and Stalls
We currently have 7 box stalls. The stalls are matted, large and airy. We have 2 stalls measuring 11.5'x10', 4 stalls measuring 12'x10.5' and one stall 14'x11'.

We believe horses should be outdoors as much as possible. It is most beneficial for horses to be outdoors for many reasons, but if they do need to be in for inclement weather we wanted to make sure the horses are as comfortable, healthy and happy inside as well as outside.
Having good ventilation was important to us so as we remodeled the barns we made sure the stalls were good size, matted and well ventilated.

Each stall has at least one large window and Dutch style doors. The windows are covered with bars and glass for the colder weather and then removed in the nice weather. The upper doors on the stalls can be left open or shut depending on the time of year. Most horses enjoy being with and around other horses. The stalls allow the horses to visit without injury. We also realize some horse prefer to be alone or are less sociable so we can accommodate the needs of the horses individually as well.

We own a 4 horse Gooseneck trailer. Depending upon it's availability , it can be used for emergencies and transporting to events.

Feed and Diet
To ensure the horses' water intake is met, we provide each stall with 2 water buckets in the warm weather and a heated bucket in the winter. We feed beet pulp, Poulin Grains, and our own native hay. We have 7 acres in hay field which when the weather is cooperating we harvest about 600 to 700 bales of hay a year. We like managing our own hay fields. It allows us to know exactly what we grow and harvest. When we do have to buy hay we buy from local farmers who we are familiar with to ensure good quality hay.

Having a lifetime worth of experience in horses I know not all horses are alike. Horses have their own individual needs such as turn out, feeds, exercise etc. Knowing this we have no problem catering to the individual needs of your horse.

All boarders answer a questionnaire . This enables us to make your horse as comfortable, healthy and happy as can be.

Riding
This area of Auburn is zoned agricultural protected. We currently have 3 very large paddocks and 7 acres of pasture. Two measuring 100x150 ft. The fencing is made up of cedar posts and 2x6 wooden rails. The third paddock measures 260'x140' and the fencing is electric. The gates are aluminum. We also have 7 acres of pasture enclosed with electric fence. All paddocks have 70 gallon Rubbermaid troughs and have heaters in the winter to prevent ice build up. There are many trails and quiet country roads to ride. The land is generally flat with good footing. One of the paddocks doubles as our outdoor riding arena .

We also offer some combinations such as boarding/training combinations, horsemanship/lessons/first time owner/boarding combo's.

Please feel free to call or for more information.
